How GoSwap works

Use this guide to find each feature quickly. GoSwap supports local item-for-item swaps only; it does not process payments, delivery, deposits, or guarantees.

Browse and search items

Path: Left menu -> Home

Use the search box, category chips, area selector, and sort menu to filter local items by keyword, area, recommended ranking, comments, distance, or newest posts.

Post an item

Path: Left menu -> Post

Complete one step at a time: item details, what you want in return, then meetup details. Use Next to move forward and Post item on the final step.

Save favorites

Path: Item card or item detail -> Heart button; Left menu -> Favorites

Tap the heart to save or unsave an item. Saved items appear in Favorites so you can compare them later.

Follow users

Path: Item card or item detail -> Swapper profile -> Follow; Left menu -> Profile -> Following

Open a user's public profile and press Follow. Your followed users appear in the Following tab, where you can open their profile or unfollow them.

Make a swap offer

Path: Home -> Item detail -> Offer a swap

Choose one of your own posted items, write a short message, and send the offer. Both users can then manage it from Swaps.

Schedule a meetup

Path: Left menu -> Swaps -> Select accepted offer -> Propose meetup

After the owner accepts, one person proposes a public location, date, and time. The meetup becomes officially scheduled only after the other person confirms the proposal.

Confirm a completed swap

Path: Left menu -> Swaps -> Action required swap

After both people confirm the meetup time and the scheduled time has passed, each person can confirm completed, cancel the swap, or propose a new time. The swap becomes Completed only after both people confirm.

Leave reviews

Path: Left menu -> Swaps -> Completed swap -> Leave a review

Once the swap is Completed, use the review panel to rate the other user and leave a short comment. Reviews affect user rating and level.

Real-name verification

Path: Left menu -> Profile -> Verification

Upload a NZ student ID, driver licence, utility bill, bank statement, tenancy agreement, or similar document. Admins review it manually, and the source file is removed after review.

Report or hide content

Path: Item detail, public user profile, or swap chat -> Report / Hide; Profile -> Hidden -> Unhide

Report sends a concern to the admin team. Hide removes content from recommendations, while Block prevents further swaps, chat, and follows. Restore hidden or blocked users from Profile.

View profile, history, and following

Path: Left menu -> Profile; item owner name -> Public profile

Your Profile includes Overview, Following, Hidden, Swap history, and Verification tabs. Public profiles show current posts, completed swap history, and received reviews.
